Besides linguistics, I read books, take photos, and listen to classical music.
I love Bach and Chopin. I myself can play the piano and violin, though not in a professional level. I love reading musicology, especially books by Charles Rosen. I always listen to the musicians in 20th century, e.g. Wilhelm Kempff, Fritz Wunderlich, Mstislav Rostropovich, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Rosalyn Tureck. In terms of performers who are still active, I like Gidon Kremer and Martha Argerich. I should say that music and musicology gave me many Aha! moments in understanding the structure of human languages.
